I've been working on some new ideas lately and this is a very small section from one of them. I initially filmed myself playing that part so that I was more likely to remember or be able to figure out what I'd played. I muted the percussion and the bass as they're only rough recordings at the moment, so this clip is ultra sparce.
Recording the drum track for NOW's 44 second 'Cabbagehead' in October 2008. The take I actually used wasn't the same one I filmed, thus the shady editing.
This is a preview of my Moving Paintings exhibition, which ran from 13th to 26th July 2008 at the Utrophia project space in Deptford. The exhibition contained six longer films, often starting with the first drop of ink, alongside a similar edit to this (with a sound installation based on the sound of the projectors used to show the films in place of the Can soundtrack here), which serves as a kind of advert for the rest of the work. The films are all of ink in water, shot in natural light. I'm currently looking for new spaces to show the work, I'll keep you posted of any developments. If you know of anywhere that might be suitable, please get in touch via the contact page.
This is a short film I made of Utrophia's third CWM festival, which was held in 2006 in Cromer, Norfolk. It was a beautiful, wonderous few days, and a true triumph enjoyed by all. Music comes courtesy of Hamilton Yarns, who I had the pleasure of doing live sound for at the event. More on Utrophia can be found at Utrophia.net
This is a short film I made of some of the countless acts that have played at the Utrophia events over the last six years. With music by Naciente Quartet, it was shown at the opening of our new project space in Deptford on Feb 16th, and will soon be part of the forthcoming Utrophia film proper. More about the Utrophia network can be found at Utrophia.net
This is a short film I made of the Utrophia Project Space and some of the awesome events and work that have been curated, created and hosted there. Shown at the opening of our new project space in Deptford on Feb 16th, this short film will soon be part of the forthcoming Utrophia film proper. More about the Utrophia network can be found at Utrophia.net
In December 2007 I took a trip to New York and Boston to meet up with some of the great folks I've been talking to over the last few years from the other side of the Atlantic. Check out my adventures over there, musical and otherwise, in the three short films above.
This is one incarnation of Steve Moleneux's (Naciente Quartet) band Tile, which I occasionally play bass and percussion in. It's slightly shambolic, but that's what you get when you rehearse for three hours before you take your stuff out live. Beautiful stuff though. You can check out more from Tile at www.utrophia.net.
So, here's the first of my videos, the one for 'Sea Shapes' from the forthcoming 'Hands Up Baby Hands Up' EP. The audio is from the unmastered mix, i'll be replacing that soon enough with the mastered audio. Til then though, you may have to turn the volume up.
Thanks for watching!
